If you’re like me, you know the frustration of getting luscious lashes. With social media flooded with luxurious lashes, it feels impossible to compete without some extra help.

The GrandeLASH-MD serum is water-based, dermatologically tested, and delivered incredible results. My lashes were thicker, longer, and more fabulous than they’d ever been.

There’s something for everyone here. Keep reading to read more about my number one choice for the best eyelash growth serum, and how my other findings measure up!

1. Best overall: Grande Cosmetics GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum

My overall recommendation is Grande Cosmetics GrandeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum. This serum is the number one eyelash serum on Amazon, promising full results in three months. I noticed a dramatic improvement within six weeks!

The solution is water-based, containing hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and amino acids for moisturizing and prolonging your eyelashes’ growing cycle

The result: healthier, thicker, and longer lashes.

When I say this serum works, I mean it. If you don’t believe me, ask the pros! This serum is dermatologist tested and ophthalmologist approved.

This serum is perfect for anyone looking to grow back their lashes, whether they were lost to aging or other factors. Be aware that over-applying might cause some irritation.

2. Best budget: Fraiche Organic Castor Oil

For those on a budget, Fraiche Organic Castor Oil is a cost-effective option. It’s USDA-approved, cruelty-free, and all-natural!

This lash serum is made of castor oil enhanced with vitamin E, proteins, and minerals to help mend lashes damaged by various circumstances.

What I love best about this serum is what you get for the price. One side comes with a double-ended wand: a spoolie for eyebrow application and a brush for your lashes. That separation prevents cross-contamination and infection.

The problem I had with this serum was its thickness, which felt strange when first starting. Use at night on clean lashes rather than in the morning under makeup.

3. Best for double duty: Babe Lash Essential Serum

Babe Lash Essential Serum is a cruelty-free brand that boasts thicker-looking, darker lashes starting after one month of use.

This serum is oil-free and safe to use on extensions. However, you might not need them after long! Apply to clean, dry lashes using their precision brush applicator.

Make sure you allow it to dry before sleeping: you don’t want it leaking and causing hair growth in unintended places. Yes, it’s THAT effective!

If you’re looking for both lash and brow growth, this is the product for you. This award-winning formula works best with consistent, continued application.

4. Best conditioning: RevitaLash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner

RevitaLash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner has a heartwarming backstory, this eyelash serum was created by a physician to help his wife feel beautiful while she battled breast cancer. If that doesn’t catch your attention, its results will!

This powerful serum boosts eyelash growth and improves flexibility and shine. Its main active ingredient is panthenol, which strengthens and conditions your lashes.

This brand is clinically tested, cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and responsibly made. The only downside was the price. However, they donate proceeds to breast cancer initiatives. Love that!

5. Best for lash extensions: MATKAS Lash Enhancing Serum

Most eyelash serums advise against using them with extensions. MATKAS Lash Enhancing Serum believes you shouldn’t have to wait! This serum has a gentle formula that doesn’t affect the extension adhesives.

Made with biotin, amino acids, and vitamin E, MATKAS is also enhanced with natural ingredients like aloe leaf and ginseng root extracts. Results show quickly, and peak within five to six weeks.

This lightweight eyelash serum can be applied twice a day to clean lashes. You can even wear it under makeup! Be sure it dries completely first so your makeup doesn’t seep into your eyes.

6. Best applicator: VieBeauti Eyelash Growth Serum

Always on the go? Then, try out the easy-application VieBeauti Eyelash Growth Serum! This thin eyelash serum goes on like eyeliner, with a brush that prevents over-applying and wasting time blotting away excess.

This formula can be applied twice per day and showed results as early as two weeks. It includes ingredients like hydrolyzed silk and Panax ginseng extract to strengthen upper and lower lashes.

I noticed this serum can be mildly irritating within the first few days of use. It also caused slight coloration around the application area.

7. Best natural formula: PURA D’OR Organic Castor Oil

If you’re concerned about mystery ingredients, I recommend PURA D’OR Organic Castor Oil. It’s made of 100% organic, cold-pressed California castor oil—and nothing else.

This USDA-approved serum comes for a great value. Included are individual to-go bottles with a spoolie for eyebrows and a thin brush for eyelash application, as well as a four-ounce bottle for refills.

Castor oil is thick. Apply with a light touch and allow time to dry completely so it doesn’t enter your eyes. I find it’s best to apply this one at night before sleep.

The only downside with this product is the packaging, the glass tubes break easily if mishandled. Be aware that this product has an earthy scent.

8. Best derm-recommended: Latisse Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution

Latisse Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution, the only FDA-approved serum on the market, requires a prescription. It’s used to treat hypotrichosis, or having too few eyelashes.

This serum uses bimatoprost to enhance eyelash thickness, density, strength, and length. Latisse is applied by squeezing one drop of solution onto the disposable applicator brush and spreading thinly on the upper lash line.

The results take about 16 weeks to show, but the statistics are impressive. Latisse also supports a free online consultation with a US-licensed healthcare provider beforehand, and free unlimited follow-ups for any concerns.

Latisse is not without its faults. While your lashes improve, side effects can include changing iris color, eyelid pigmentation, and loss of fat (which could change your eye shape).

9. Best for sensitive eyes: Natural Vine Eyelash Serum

For sensitive eyes, Natural Vine Eyelash Serum is the way to go. This gentle formula is water-based and non-irritating but has competitive results. Consistent use for six weeks will deliver prime results!

The formula is thick and moisturizing, made with flower and ginseng extracts to soothe potential irritation. The applicator brush ensures that you don’t use too much formula at once to prevent irritation caused by excess.

The only problem is that the brush is pretty delicate. Use it carefully!

10. Best vegan: DIME Beauty Eyelash Boost Serum

For a high-quality vegan option, look no further than DIME Beauty Eyelash Boost Serum. This serum is cruelty-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and comes in sustainable packaging. What’s more: it’s made in the USA!

This water-based serum is rich in panthenol, amino acids, and aloe vera extract. Apply to upper and lower lash lines for beautiful, durable eyelashes.

This odorless, gentle serum shows results in weeks. Be aware that it tends to weaken adhesives, and isn’t suitable to use with eyelash extensions.

11. Best oil-free: Urge Lash Eyelash Growth Serum

The final contender is Urge Lash Eyelash Growth Serum. This is ideal for anyone seeking an oil-free formula that won’t clog pores or cause breakouts.

This hypoallergenic serum is dermatologist-approved. It contains hyaluronic acid, biotin, and chamomile extract for regenerative, anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free!

This serum shows results three to five weeks after consistent use. Best results are achieved within two to three months, and it’s safe to use with lash extensions.

The only problem is that the serum can get used up quickly. Wipe down any excess from your brush before applying.

What to look for when buying eyelash growth serum

Before purchasing any eyelash serum, do your research! Your eyes and surrounding skin are incredibly sensitive. The last thing you want is any surprise reactions.

Before purchasing, consider:

  • Allergens. Make sure that your chosen serum doesn’t contain any ingredients you are allergic to. Consult your doctor or test a small amount on your inner elbow.
  • Ingredients. Your serum should contain peptides, vitamins like biotin and panthenol, hydrolyzed keratin, or amino acids. Avoid serums with prostaglandins and parabens, which are skin irritants.
  • Clinical studies and reviews. Carefully read reviews and ensure your serum has been clinically approved.
  • Packaging. Lash growth serums are popular, so it’s easy for fake versions to find their way to the market. Buy from a reputable source and ensure the packaging is authentic and undamaged.

Active ingredients in eyelash serum that promote lash growth

Here are six active ingredients to look for in your lash serum that help stimulate lash growth:

Biotin: This B vitamin is equally important for maintaining healthy hair and nails. It’s been known to help stimulate hair growth and strengthen your lashes.

Panthenol: Panthenol, another form of vitamin B also known as B5 helps strengthen eyelashes and promotes growth.

Peptides: These tiny proteins work by helping to stimulate collagen production, vital to both skin and hair health.

Keratin: Found in hair, nails, and skin, keratin is a protein that helps repair damaged eyelashes while also working to strengthen them.

Castor oil: Castor oil is an all-natural oil rich in fatty acids and essential nutrients that is shown to stimulate eyelash growth and improve overall lash health.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil, or MCT oil, is another naturally derived oil that is both rich in fatty acids and nutrients that helps moisturize and nourish your lashes. It has also been shown to stimulate eyelash growth.

Eyelash serum FAQ

Here are some answers to other frequently asked questions.

Are eyelash growth serums safe?

Eyelash growth serums show successful results, but some have side effects. The most common is irritation or discoloration of the skin. Others might change your iris color or ruin your contact lenses. Here’s a helpful video by the Hawaiian eye surgeon Dr. Rupa Wong to check out.

Can you use eyelash growth serums with eyelash extensions?

You can use some eyelash growth serums with eyelash extensions but check the label and reviews. Oil-based serums cause extensions to clump up or interfere with the adhesives.

Look for oil-free serums if you have extensions.

What is best for eyelash growth?

Here are some tips to help your lashes grow naturally long and strong:

  • Clean eyelashes regularly of makeup and environmental residue.
  • Avoid waterproof mascara. If you do use waterproof mascara, gently remove it by patting it with an oil-based makeup remover.
  • Brush out your lashes.
  • Don’t trim or pluck your lashes. If they need maintenance, consult a professional.
  • Condition with coconut oil or castor oil on eyelashes to restore moisture to your lashes
  • Eat a balanced diet or take vitamin supplements. Biotin-rich foods like spinach and eggs can contribute to natural lash growth.
